- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Spread butter or brush olive oil on one side of each bread slice.
- Place bread, butter-side down, on a baking sheet.
- Layer with cheese slices and desired protein (ham, turkey, chicken, or bacon).
- Add optional toppings like tomato, onion, spinach, or pesto if desired.
- Top with another cheese slice if you want extra gooeyness.
- Bake for 8–12 minutes until cheese is melted and bread edges are golden.
- Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes for a crispier top. Watch carefully!
- Serve warm, with salad or soup if desired.
Notes
Customize your melts with BBQ chicken, pesto and tomato, or even make it a breakfast melt with bacon and fried egg. Watch the broiler closely to avoid burning!
