Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 12 oz smoked sausage sliced (andouille or kielbasa)
  • 1 green cabbage small head, thinly sliced
  • 1 yellow onion small, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil divided
  • 1 tbsp Cajun seasoning
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • red pepper flakes optional, for heat

Equipment

  • Large Skillet

Method

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned on both sides. Remove and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the remaining olive oil. Sauté the onion until translucent, about 3 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced cabbage. Cook for 6–8 minutes, stirring often, until it wilts and becomes tender but not mushy.
  4. Season the shrimp with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Add to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, or until pink and cooked through.
  5. Return the sausage to the skillet. Stir everything together and cook for another 2 minutes on low heat. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

This dish is easy to customize! Use turkey or vegan sausage, swap cabbage types, or adjust the Cajun seasoning to your spice preference. Great for meal prep too—leftovers reheat well.
