Ingredients
  

Crust
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Filling
  • 3/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups pecans chopped
  • 1 pinch flaky sea salt for sprinkling

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour and salt. Cut in cold butter using pastry cutter or forks until crumbly. Stir in granulated sugar. Press 2/3 of the mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Bake the crust for 15 minutes, until lightly golden. Remove from oven but keep oven on.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together maple syrup, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth. Stir in chopped pecans.
  5. Pour the pecan mixture over the warm crust. Spread evenly. Sprinkle flaky sea salt on top.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until set and slightly puffed. Cool completely, then chill for 30–60 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Chill bars before cutting for clean edges. Store at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week. Freeze individually wrapped bars for up to 2 months.
