- Preheat your oven to 375°F.
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the diced onion and cook until soft and fragrant.
- Drain any excess grease and season the beef mixture with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- Thinly slice the potatoes about 1/8 inch thick.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup and milk until smooth.
- Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer sliced potatoes on the bottom, followed by some of the beef mixture, sauce, and shredded cheese.
- Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with cheese on top.
- Cover the casserole with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake another 15 minutes until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
