- Wash, peel, and cube the sweet potatoes. Cut them into even chunks for uniform cooking.
- Add sweet potatoes to the crockpot. Top with butter, cream (or milk), brown sugar (or maple syrup), cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- Cover and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until potatoes are fork-tender.
- Once cooked, mash potatoes with a masher or beat with a hand mixer until smooth and creamy. Add more cream or butter as needed.
- Taste and adjust sweetness or salt. Add optional vanilla extract for a dessert-like finish.
- Keep warm in the slow cooker until ready to serve.
Notes
Make it your own with flavor variations like garlic and herbs for savory or marshmallows and pecans for a sweet holiday twist. Use coconut milk for a dairy-free version.
