Beef and Sauce
  • 3–4 lbs beef chuck steaks or similar slow-cooking steak cuts
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large onion sliced
  • 5 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp dried rosemary
  • salt and pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Slow Cooker
  • Large Skillet

Method

  1. Generously season each steak with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet and sear the steaks for a few minutes on each side until browned.
  3. Place sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Layer the seared steaks on top of the onions and garlic.
  5. In a bowl, mix beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, thyme, and rosemary. Pour over the beef.
  6. Cover and cook on LOW for 8–10 hours or on HIGH for 5–6 hours, until beef is tender and falling apart.
  7. Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Spoon sauce over top as desired.

Notes

You can thicken the sauce by mixing 1 tbsp cornstarch with water and stirring it in 20 minutes before the end of cooking. Freeze leftovers for up to 3 months.
