Ingredients

Fries
  • 2 large sweet potatoes peeled and cut into thin sticks
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tbsp olive oil optional
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • salt and black pepper to taste

Equipment

  • Baking Sheet
  • Parchment Paper or Wire Rack
  • Large Bowl
  • Oven

Method

  1. Cut the sweet potatoes into thin, even sticks for maximum crispiness.
  2. Soak the fries in cold water for 30 minutes. Drain and dry thoroughly.
  3. Toss fries in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  4. Add olive oil (if using), paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Toss again.
  5. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or use a wire rack. Spread fries out evenly with space between them.
  6. Bake at 425°F (218°C) for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.

Notes

For oil-free fries, skip the olive oil and slightly increase the cornstarch. Bake on a wire rack to maximize crispiness. Try adding different seasonings like Cajun spice, cinnamon sugar, or garlic parmesan for variety.
