Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 lbs carrots peeled and cut into ½-inch slices or sticks
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • cinnamon or fresh thyme optional, for a twist

Equipment

  • Large skillet or saucepan

Method

  1. Peel the carrots and cut them into ½-inch slices or sticks.
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add carrots and simmer for 8–10 minutes until just tender. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add brown sugar and maple syrup. Stir until bubbling and slightly thickened, about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Add drained carrots to the skillet. Toss to coat in the glaze. Simmer for 5–7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until glossy and golden.
  5. Optional: Add a pinch of cinnamon or fresh thyme before serving for extra flavor.

Notes

Make ahead tip: You can prep the carrots and glaze the day before. Just reheat with a splash of maple syrup before serving. For added depth, try roasting the carrots instead of boiling.
